Doha: Qatari Diar, a global leader in sustainable real estate, announced its prize for The Best International Sustainable Residential Development in the world at Chelsea Barracks at the International Property Awards, which took place on February 25. After scooping the UK edition of the awards and receiving the prize for Best Sustainable Residential Development in the UK for the scheme last year, Chelsea Barracks was levered on a global scale - thanks to its environmentally responsible design and wealth of sustainability credentials.
All three prizes for the Best Sustainable Residential Development in the UK, Europe and the world have now been awarded to Qatari Diar. The World’s Best accolade is the highest global award to be won and continues to cement Chelsea Barracks as leaders of the sustainability agenda around the world.

Chelsea Barracks is a 12.8-acre mixed-use residential development in London dedicated to seven contemporary Belgravia garden squares, creating permeable public green space and walkways throughout the site. With sustainability at the heart of its vision, every detail at the development works to support it, from the 40 percent of the site that is dedicated to garden squares to the design and materials sourced to construct the buildings. As a result, The LEED platinum certification the site has recently secured currently places Chelsea Barracks as the most sustainable residential development in Europe and one of just 16 world-wide to achieve this status – helping them win this latest global accolade at the International Property Awards.
Abdullah bin Hamad Al Attiyah, CEO of Qatari Diar: “Our vision for Chelsea Barracks has always centred around making it the most sustainable development it can be. We have created a truly accessible and sustainable place for people to live and spend time in through our abundance of green spaces and considered design, adding immense value to both residents and the local community in this newly revitalized part of Belgravia. We are committed to creating spaces that weave seamlessly into the fabric of the local area, and we’re delighted that all this has been recognised in winning the awards for the Best Sustainable Residential Development in the UK, Europe and now the world as part of the UK and International Property Awards respectively.”
The International Property Awards celebrate the highest levels of achievement by companies operating in all sectors of the property and real estate industry.
The award is recognised as a world-renowned mark of excellence. The categories are split into regions across the globe and participants enter at their relevant national level for judging.
The highest-scoring winners from each region are automatically entered into the overall International Awards, which determine the world’s finest property companies. Chelsea Barracks was crowned the Best International Sustainable Residential Development – the highest accolade to be won in this category and testament to its ongoing commitment to sustainability for both residents and the wider community.
The ceremony was held in London at The Savoy Hotel on February 25, hosting best-in-class property and real estate companies around the world.
