DOHA: Registration for the Fourth Qatar International Falconry and Hunting Festival 2013 has begun.
The registration will continue for the next five days at Al Burqa Hall, Al Gannas Society Building, Katara.
The organising committee is yet to decide on the dates of the festival, which is expected to be held between January 8 and 13.
Six cars and QR1m will be given away in prizes to winners of various competitions to be held as part of the festival. In addition, participants will be awarded prizes in order to encourage them, Al Sharq reported.
A large number of prospective participants turned up at Katara to register their falcons for the competition.
“Based on the first day of registrations, we expect that this year the number of participants will be more than that last year,” said Khatam Al Muhshadi, head of the organising committee.
“Some changes have been made in the programme of the festival in this year. The Mazain Al Tuyur competition will be held in Katara in place of its old location so that the maximum number of spectators can follow the most important competition of the festival,” said Al Muhshadi.
Registration is being done in a bigger hall, Al Burqa, at Katara this year. Moreover, the participants need not go to their respective committees for registration. All committees have been authorized to do registration for all competitions in order to provide better services to the participants, said Al Muhshadi.
