Doha: The Supervisory Committee of Beautification of Roads and Public Places in Qatar planted trees in the park near to Shura Council building, in continuation of ‘Qatar Beautification and our Kids Planting Trees’ campaign launched by the Committee in last year.
The campaign aiming at planting one million trees in cooperation with Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME).
Speaker of Shura Council, H E Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Zaid Al Mahmoud; Minister of Finance H E Ali bin Shareef Al Emadi, and President of Public Works Authority (Ashghal), Dr. Eng. Saad bin Ahmed Al Muhannadi, attended the event along with distinguished members of Shura Council.
On this occasion, H E Abdullah bin Fahd Ghorab, a member of Shura Council, said that he is impressed with the initiative of Supervisory Committee of Beautification of Roads and Public Places, which contributes to spreading awareness about the importance of planting trees and increasing green areas in Qatar. He also praised the committee efforts to involve many institutions and entities of the state in the initiative, besides involving children.
H E Dr. Aisha Yousef Al Mannai, a member of Shura Council expressed delight in the initiative.
“Today we planted trees within the initiative of Supervisory Committee of Beautification of Roads and Public Places in the country. Planting trees today is a symbol of life, growth and continuous development in Qatar, thanks to God and thanks to the blessed efforts of His Highness Amir, the government, ministers, and their deliveries to this beloved country. We are happy to plant trees today, and we hope that our children and next generation will harvest the fruits of what we planted,” She said.
Chairman of Supervisory Committee of Beautification of Roads and Public Places in Qatar, Eng Mohammad Arqoub Al Khaldi, said the campaign aims at spreading awareness about the importance of planting trees, emphasising the social responsibility of everyone in the protection and preservation of environment. He said that the campaign will last up to end of 2021.
