Qatar’s quarterly GDP at current prices in the second quarter (Q2) of 2021 is estimated at QR156.31bn, an increase of 36.1 percent compared to the estimate of Q2 of 2020 placed at QR114.88bn. When compared to previous quarter (Q1) of 2021 revised estimate of QR148.28bn, an increase of 5.4 percent is recorded.
The Planning and Statistics Authority (PSA) yesterday released the preliminary estimates of gross domestic product (GDP) at current and constant prices for the second quarter of 2021.
Gross domestic product at current prices (nominal GDP) increase by 36.1 percent in the second quarter of 2021 over the second quarter of 2020.
The quarterly GDP at constant prices shows an increase of 4.0 percent in Q2 of 2021 (QR161.64bn) compared to the estimate of Q2 of 2020 (QR155.45bn). When compared to Q1 of 2021 revised estimate (QR162.15bn), a decrease of 0.3 percent is also recorded.
The nominal gross value added (GVA) estimate of Mining and Quarrying activities is estimated at QR57.49bn in Q2 2021, which shows an increase of 103.9 percent over the estimate of Q2 2020 placed at QR28.20bn. Compared to the previous quarter revised estimate (QR51.81bn), an increase of 11.0 percent in the GVA of this sector is recorded.
The real GVA of these activities is estimated at QR63.15bn in Q2 2021, which shows an increase of 0.7 percent compared to the estimate of Q2 2020 (QR62.73bn). Compared to Q1 2021 revised estimate (QR62.87bn), an increase of 0.4 percent in the real GVA of this sector is also recorded.
The nominal GVA of Non-Mining and Quarrying activities is estimated at QR98.82bn in Q2 2021, which shows an increase of 14.0 percent over the estimate of Q2 2020 (QR86.68bn). Compared to the previous quarter revised estimate (QR96.47bn), an increase of 2.4 percent is recorded.
The real GVA of Non-Mining and Quarrying activities is estimated at QR98.49bn in Q2 2021, which shows an increase of 6.2 percent over the estimate of the Q2 2020 (QR92.72bn). When compared to the Q1 2021 revised estimate (QR99.29bn), a decrease of 0.8 percent is also recorded.
