DOHA: Qatar Stars League (QSL) side Umm Salal will unveil their new coach Gerrard Gilli who is set to replace Alain Perrin, it was announced yesterday.
Perrin, 57, was fired after Al Wakra beat Umm Salal in a QSL tie last week.
It was the second successive loss for Umm Salal in just three rounds of the new season.
The outgoing Frenchman became the first casualty of the new football season in Qatar.
New coach Gilli is expected to reveal plans that would help the 61-year-old to turn things around for Umm Salal.
Gilli, a former French player like Perrin, has twice coached Umm Salal in the last five years.
Umm Salal will have have their task cut out as the QSL minnows take on Doha giants Al Sadd in the fourth round this Friday.
