First month of autumn begins as summer retreats

Doha: September marks as the first month of autumn which is considered to be a transitional period between summer and winter, Qatar Meteorology Department (QMD) announced on Twitter yesterday. 

During this season, the weather conditions will begin to get mild gradually with increasing humidity. The amount of clouds are also likely to increase along with chances of rain, may turn thundery at times, during the afternoon. 

"The amount of clouds expected to increase with a chance of rain may be thundery at times especially by afternoon. The wind is mainly easterly light to moderate in speed," QMD said in a statement. 

The mean daily temperature for the month is 33 degrees Celsius. This is lower than last month's mean temperature of 35 degrees Celsius. 

The lowest and highest temperature recorded in September was 20.3 degrees Celsius (1964) and 46.2 degrees Celsius (2001).
