ICC lines up events to celebrate 75th Independence Day of India

Doha: Indian Cultural Centre (ICC), an apex body of the Indian Embassy in Qatar, is all set with greater preparations and plans for yet another mega event to celebrate the 75th Independence Day of India under the theme “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav”.

Many events have been planned for celebrating the day in ardour and zeal with a mega cultural carnival starting from today. The celebration will continue until August 19.

The announcement was made in a press conference held at ICC premises yesterday. The press conference was attended by ICC President P N Babu Rajan; Chairman Celebration Committee A P Manikantan, and Cultural Coordinator Sumaa Mahesh Gowda.

“Ambassador of India H E Dr. Deepak Mittal will inaugurate the 75th Independence Day of India celebrations at ICC Ashoka Hall today at 7.30pm. This will mark the beginning of the celebration of the 75th Independence Day of India in Doha,” said Babu Rajan.

He said that on all these days a variety of cultural events will be held at various locations across the country.  

“These events will be actively and voluntarily participated by various associated organisations of ICC, Indian sociocultural groups, Indian schools and blue-collar workers to showcase their talents,” said Babu Rajan. He said that all these events are planned at various locations in order to have a grander reach out to all the communities. 

“To conclude, Qawwali will be performed on August 19 by a renowned team from India — Danish Hussain Badayuni Qawwali Group.”

On the daily basis ICC has planned to reach the community with the flyers publishing in the digital media, press updates, radio announcements, social media postings will be used for communicating and reaching the Indian families and community as well as other communities to attend and participate.

ICC Coordinating officer First Secretary Embassy of India, Xavier Dhanraj; ICC President, P N Babu Rajan; Chairman, ICC Advisory Council, K S Prasad; GSICC, Krishnakumar; VP ICC, Subramanya Hebbagelu; Chairman, Celebration Committee, A P Manikantan and Chairman, Finance Committee Mahesh Gowda will lead the celebration.

“Earlier on Friday we had the primary discussion at the ICC Ashoka Hall. Exceptional support rendered by all Indian community leaders, the gathering comprises ICC MC members and several volunteers of different organisations promised their involvement,” said Babu Rajan.

He said that ICC MCs and president is coordinating and working with Qatari authorities to get required approvals to make these mega events successful.
