Doha: Mall of Qatar has recently hosted an art exhibition organized by Al  Jumeliyah Girls Forum, part of AL  Jumeliyah Youth Center, under the umbrella of the Ministry of Culture and Sport with the support of the Department of International Studies and Affairs of the General  Directorate of Drug Enforcement at the Ministry of Interior and AlReyada Girls Center.

The exhibition aimed  to shed light on the drug issue and creatively raise awareness of the new generations through displaying portraits and paintings created by children, allowing them a free space to express their ideas and thoughts  creatively.

Khalifa Al Shahwani, Director, AL  Jumeliyah Youth Center said: “We thank Mall of Qatar for supporting this awareness initiative and collaborating  with our center. This reaffirms the Mall’s effort to host various exhibitions on the environment, sport, history, and social topics in line with its social responsibility programs to raise awareness on issues of great interest to the community”.

Emile Sarkis, General Manager, Mall of Qatar, stated: “We thank the Ministry of Culture and Sport and Al Jumeliyah Girls Forum for this important initiative, and we are proud to host such an educational and  artistic exhibition.

We also appreciate the Department of International Studies and Affairs of the General  Directorate of Drug Enforcement, Ministry of Interior for the great effort to combat drugs and protect our generations. We all are uniting our forces to shed light on this critical issue in our community, and this exhibition for children is an open space for  them to express their thoughts. We are confident that this initiative has delivered the right message to our visitors to raise their awareness on how to tackle such an issue”.

Curated and coordinated by Noora Al Shahwani, Activities Coordinator at Al Jumeliyah Girls Forum,  the exhibition gave children a creative space to display their drawings to attract the interest of people towards drug abuse which comes after the lift of restriction on COVID-19 that allows children to enter the malls again.

In addition, the Department of International Studies and Affairs of the General  Directorate of Drug Enforcement, Ministry of Interior, distributed educational booklets and leaflets which include valuable information about how to combat drugs and protect the new generations from its effects.
