Doha: Al Jaber Opticians has sponsored a traffic awareness and Iftar meal distribution drive, involving volunteers from a number of expat communities.
Inspired by the Qatar Living Volunteers group, Mildred Ngoaban has initiated to organise an annual community activity as used to be sponsored by AL Jaber Opticians in collaboration with the different expat community organisations’ members in Qatar.
The main purposes of the event are to raise traffic awareness to prevent any road accidents that are often caused by speeding. The event also aimed to provide food and drinks/Iftar to all the motorists especially those who are fasting during the month of Ramadan.
The event also unites the community social welfare advocates.
This event was not carried out in 2020 and 2021 due to the pandemic.
Recently however, Al Jaber Opticians sponsored its 10th traffic awareness and Ifthar drive in the State of Qatar which was supported by the volunteers from different expatriate organisations in Qatar. More than 100 volunteers from different nationalities including Philippines, Nepal, Pakistan and India cooperated and joined hands to make the event a success.
Each volunteer responsibly observes the traffic rules, health and safety measures in carrying out the tasks during packing of food packs, transportation of volunteers and food pack distributions.
Team leaders were assigned to every distribution point, and each team leader was responsible to guide their co-volunteers on their designated distribution areas, to observe safety and cleanliness after the distribution.
At the end of the Ifthar packs distributions, all volunteers have concluded the event with a volunteers dinner.
The management of Al Jaber Opticians and Al Jaber Family extended their deep gratitude to all those who participated and supported the event, especially to the Ministry of Interior by securing the distribution area with four Traffic Police patrol cars and six officers to provide assistance and maintain peace and order.
Great appreciations were conveyed to Al Jaber Opticians’ employees, Stone Guardians, Brotherhood Inc. (SGBI), Qatar Volunteers Group, BIMAK, GPII-SUC, Doha Environmental Action Project, RUGBII-SDG and all volunteers.
"May the spirit of the holy month of Ramadan bring peace and joy to everyone’s heart as we all continue to promote community advocates and our social responsibilities," said a statement.
