Squash: Tamimi wins Qatar Close

Doha: Abdulla Al Tamimi emerged on top at the Qatar Close championship to win the men’s title in the Qatar Squash Federation (QSF) organised tournament at Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex here yesterday.

Abdulrahman Salem Al Malki finished second in the tournament which was played on a round-robin basis.

For Al Tamimi, it was the third title he has won this month.

In the first week of March, he won the Under-19 titles at the Qatar Junior Open and Doha Junior Open. Al Tamimi is 134 according to the PSA rankings in the senior category, while in the junior he is the world No.1 player. 

Sadam Mehawesh won the Under-17 title while Abdulwahab Al Ishaq finished runner-up.

In the Under-13 section,  Abdulaziz Al Ishaq took the top prize and was followed by Rashid Al Harib.

In the Under-11, Ahmad Alobaidli  clinched the top spot followed by Ali Al Qahtani.

Jassim Sorour won the Under-9 category, while Salem Al Malki bagged the second place in the championship which was held over a period of five days.
