Qatar is rapidly transforming into an extraordinary hub where a promising outlook builds on a strong economic foundation with a future-ready infrastructure and enormous resources to meet unparalleled connectivity to create a lucrative world of opportunities for ambitious investors.
The ‘1000 Opportunities’ initiative by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) offers small and medium-sized enterprises the opportunity to develop their products and services in the Qatari market has received over 1,200 applications currently.
According to the official data from the Ministry the number of applications submitted to benefit from the ‘1000 Opportunities’ initiative has reached 1,204 applications. This service allows local investors to obtain investment opportunities offered by major foreign and local companies operating in Qatar.
The ‘1000 Opportunities’ initiative is an electronic platform that allows local investors to view the opportunities offered by major foreign companies in various sectors which include food distribution, communications, general contracting, public services and others. It aims to foster collaborations between the public and private sectors, creating a dynamic platform for local investors to engage with major national and international companies operating in the country.
MoCI through its various initiatives has made it easier for investors to invest in the country. Recently, MoCI in cooperation with the Ministry of Interior launched the automatic renewal service for establishment registration via the Single Window platform.
This service allows companies to obtain the updated establishment registration upon renewing the company’s license and commercial registration.
The new feature simplifies the renewal transactions for company registrations via the Single Window platform. Once the transaction is completed, the user can access the Metrash Application and obtain the renewed establishment registration. The laudable decision by MoCI to reduce the fees for services provided to the commerce, industry and business development, and consumer protection sectors that reach up to more than 90 percent for certain fees has been applauded by business owners and residents in the country.
The decision, which went into effect on July 11 will not only spur the further growth of business in the country but will also encourage many others with great business ideas and help expand the business climate with a substantial contribution to the economy of Qatar.
Qatar was ranked as the country with the biggest improvement in the business environment index in the MENA region, according to a report by the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU), recently. Qatar had a 0.93 change in score from 2019–23 to 2024–28, with financing being the country’s most improving category, making it the fifth most improved country in the rankings.
