The Ministry of Education and Higher Education, following state’s vision 2030, has taken a number of steps and launched numerous initiatives to promote the education of science and technology in the country.

Through different opportunities and incentives, the ministry is encouraging students from school to university levels to excel in science and innovation.

Under the same vision, the 16th National Research and Innovation Week 2024 opened yesterday at Qatar National Convention Centre (QNCC). The event, from September 29 to October 3, 2024, aims to showcase the innovative and distinctive research produced by students’ minds, as it has become one of the most essential pre-university research forums in Qatar.

It contributes to exchanging and disseminating scientific research and innovation culture through the best international educational practices.  The National Research and Innovation Week stems from the continuous efforts of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education to hold annual scientific research and innovation exhibitions since 2009.  This enhances students’ critical thinking, innovation, research, and inquiry skills in an era of continuous change and rapid technological advancement. In addition, students can develop essential skills such as effective communication, problem-solving, teamwork, and other important competencies.

The positive impact of these skills is not limited to enhancing academic understanding; it also helps prepare them to compete successfully in local and international competitions. This includes the field of innovative research presented by students from schools in Qatar in collaboration with supporting partners.

Thus, the objectives and aspirations of the organizing entities are realised, along with achieving the Ministry of Education and Higher Education’s 2024-2030 strategy. This strategy aims to develop an integrated educational system that fosters creativity and innovation, preparing a generation qualified for successful professional lives.  Recently, the Ministry of Education and Higher Education also launched the “My values draw my identity” project, which will run for three years from 2024 to 2027.

The project aims to complete the plans and programs that began in 2021 under the supervision of the Department of Schools and Kindergartens in the private education sector and in cooperation with the Education Center to promote and consolidate educational values among students through integrated school campaigns and activities.  The Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE) also recently launched its 2024-2030 strategy under the slogan “Igniting the Spark of Learning.” The event was attended by several esteemed ministers, senior officials, representatives from the educational sector, and representatives from both the public and private sectors.
