Sharjah, United Arab Emirates: Qatari rider Ahmed Bassam Elbourdainy yesterday won stage three of the Tour of
Sharjah.
Elbourdainy, held on to edge Hannachi Abdelbasset and his compatriot Reguigui Youcef, who finished in second and third places respectively.
The overall distance of the first stage was 70kms and 122 riders featured in the stage.
Elbourdainy clocked a time of 1 hour 23 minutes and 3 seconds, reaching a top speed of 44.65km/h, during yesterday’s race in the United Arab Emirates. The Qatari had finished in fifth spot in the first stage held on
Friday.
Sheikh Faisal bin Hameed Al Qassimi, President of the Arab Cycling Federation, Dr Wajih Azzam, Vice-President UCI, and Ahmed Al Fardan, Secretary-General of the Council of Sharjah Stadium, were present to hand over the jerseys to the players.
Magid Al Naimi, Secretary General, Qatar Cycling Federation (QCF) was also present.
A total of 23 teams are taking part in the race, which began on Friday. The Tour of Sharjah ends today. THE PENINSULA
