Doha: The Ministry of Economy and Commerce (MEC) yesterday urged Companies which are subjected to the provisions of Law 11 of 2015 on the Commercial Companies and Law 25 of 2005, as amended by Law No. 20 of 2014 on Commercial Registration, to rectify their status.
Companies whose branches are operating under trade names different from the main company name or conducting activities other than those specified in the memorandum of incorporation or articles of association of the main company are required to adjust their situation in line with the laws.
The deadline given to the companies to regularise their status while being exempt from fees expires on January 1, 2018.
The ministry said in a statement that the decision of pushing back the deadline for the adjustment of the situations of commercial companies comes in line with the strategic directions of the Government of the State of Qatar to facilitate the practice of business, and to increase the flexibility of the national economy and enable its competitiveness locally and abroad.
The statement said that through this decision, the Ministry is keen to provide all the means of assistance and flexibility to existing companies, which will lead to increasing confidence in the Qatari business environment and strengthening partnership with the private sector, in order to achieve Qatar National Vision 2030 with a diversified and sustainable competitive economy.
The Ministry of Economy and Commerce called on the commercial companies to promptly contact the Ministry's premises in Lusail, the second floor, tower (B), in order to adjust their situations.
