Doha, Qatar: The Ministry of Culture hosted a cultural evening for the Syrian community at "Al Sulaiti House" on Saturday evening, featuring artistic performances from various Syrian governorates.

The event showcased Syrian folklore, one of the richest and most ancient heritage arts in the Arab world, under the leadership of Maestro Mahmoud Ahmed Al Rajab.

The music performed by the orchestra reflected the cultural and social diversity of different Syrian regions, with each area showcasing its unique folkloric style.

The event, attended by Charge d'Affaires of the Syrian Embassy in Qatar, Dr. Bilal Turkiya, and a large audience, included performances from the coastal areas (Latakia, Tartus), known for their maritime songs. The program also featured performances from areas such as Hasakah, Qamishli, and Deir Ezzor, renowned for their rural and desert life songs.

Additionally, performances from Aleppo and northern Syria were presented, highlighting the famous Al-Qudoud al-Halabiya and Andalusian muwashah, an integral part of Arab musical heritage. The evening also featured performances representing Damascus and its countryside, known for its classical music, Sham songs, and the traditional Sham dance performed at social events.

The cultural aspects of southern Syria (Sweida, Daraa, Quneitra) were also highlighted, focusing on music inspired by nature and the Hurani dance.

This cultural evening at Al-Sulaiti House holds great significance, as it adds value to this cultural landmark, known for its successful hosting of artistic and cultural events in collaboration with various embassies and Arab and foreign communities. This has contributed to enriching the cultural and artistic scene in the country.

The Syrian Community Council in Qatar organized this evening with the aim of bringing together many Syrian artists and creatives in fields such as poetry, chanting, muwashah, and meaningful singing, who have lived in Qatar for years, as well as reviving the rich Syrian heritage.
