Qatar’s booth at the IBTM World 2021 in Barcelona, Spain.
Qatar Tourism (QT) and Qatar Airways joined the IBTM World 2021 held in Barcelona, Spain where it presented new venues.
A delegation from Qatar including several hotels, Destination Management Organisations (DMCs) and exhibition venues were present in the 3-day event. Among the partners included are Qatar Airways, Al Wadi Doha MGallery Hotel, Hilton Salwa Beach Resort and Villas The Sheraton Grand Doha Resort and Convention Hotel, The St. Regis Doha, JW Marriott Marquis City Centre Doha, Arabian Adventures, Tawfeeq Holidays, Discover Qatar, and Qatar Business Events Corporation / Doha Exhibition and Convention Center.
QT Chief Operating Officer, Berthold Trenkel, said: “International exhibitions such as IBTM help raise awareness of the destination and the extensive developments that are underway. After a hiatus, we were able to offer updates, showcasing our state-of-the-art event facilities, retail, hospitality and sporting venues, and products across culture and adventure. With a rich ecosystem that supports a variety of events, business events are an important subsector within tourism, introducing new audiences to the variety of our offerings.”
Qatar introduced its new tourism experiences, restaurants, theme parks, and football stadiums, in advance of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. The country is also adding over 100 hotels and hotel apartments, with more options available at different price points and enhancing the visitor experience, as QT continues its mission to welcome six million visitors a year by 2030.
Business events is a rapidly developing subsector of tourism in Qatar. Prior to the pandemic, it was growing at a rapid phase, and has a strong pipeline going forward, with major international conferences, sporting, and business events due to be held.
