Doha, Qatar: Meryal Waterpark hosted the opening race of the Qatar Islands Aquathlon Series, organised by QTRI Club yesterday at Qetaifan Island North.
This marks the third consecutive year that Meryal Waterpark hosts the QTRI Aquathlon, reaffirming its role as a leading destination for major sporting and community events in Qatar.
Set within the vibrant surroundings of Qetaifan Island North, Meryal Waterpark offers a unique environment that seamlessly blends sport, leisure and lifestyle. The event is organised in collaboration with QTRI Club, Qetaifan Projects and Rixos Premium Qetaifan Island North, and aligns with national efforts to encourage healthy lifestyles, sports tourism and community participation across all age groups.

Meryal Waterpark is Qatar’s biggest waterpark, located on Qetaifan Island North in Lusail. It’s designed to reflect Qatar’s oil and gas history, with RIG 1938 as its centrepiece, a tower that actually holds two Guinness World Records for its height and the number of waterslides it has. Beyond the rides, you’ll also find a beachfront, places to eat, shops, private cabanas for relaxing, and even some cool educational exhibits.
