DOHA: The Ministry of Municipality and Environment has endorsed amended rules to increase the height of buildings in Jawaan Street in Al Sadd.
The Department of Urban Planning at the ministry disclosed that the amended planning rules and terms will allow owners of plots in the northern part of the street to increase the height of their buildings to Ground + 3 instead of current Ground + 2. According to the amended rules, the buildings will be used for administrative activities, said the ministry.
The move aims to boost business activities and is in response to demands from citizens and businesses for a flexible planning policy, the ministry said yesterday.
To ensure coordination and effective implementation of the policy fixing the height of floors, the ministry said its technical departments will study applications seeking to increase the height of the buildings.
The ministry has allowed extensions or majlises of houses directly overlooking some popular commercial streets to be modified and licensed for commercial purposes.
The amended rules announced last week allow houses in seven streets, including Madinat Khalifa, Rawdat Al Khail in west and east of Nuaija, Furosia Street in Al Murra, Al Wajba Street in New Rayyan, Umm Salal Street in Umm Salal, Umm Qarn Street in Umm Qarn and Semaisima Street in Semaisima to use part of the buildings for commercial purposes. The Peninsula
