Qatar’s Mishal wins first race of QSBK at Losail

Qatar’s Mishal Al Naimi in action during the second round of the Qatar SuperBike Championship at Losail International Circuit yesterday.

Doha: Qatar’s Mishal Al Naimi won the first race of the second round of the Qatar SuperBike Championship (QSBK) at Losail International Circuit here yesterday.
Al Naimi finished with a gap of 0.766 ahead of Nasser Al Malki who came in second place.
The race is held as a support race for the last round of the World SuperBike Championship, which will end at the same venue today.
Al Malki, who was leading the race from the start, had a tough battle with Al Naimi  who finally overtook him in the last lap and got the victory.
The QSBK defending champion Alex Cudlin, who also featured in the WSBK, finished in the third place.  On Friday, Cudlin topped the qualifying session while Mishal Al Naimi finished second and Nina Prinz came third in the qualifying.
In the SuperSport category, Lebanese rider Mahmoud Tannir took the top honours, whereas Jassim Al Thani from Qatar finished second and Nasser
Al Khadra from Kuwait ended in third place. Serbian rider Manca Katrasnik won the Losail Asian Road Racing Series (LARRS) category. Trophies were given by Vito Ippolito - FIM President, Wolfgang Srb - FIM European Union President, Nasser bin Khalifa Al Attiyah , QMMF President and Giuseppe Luongo – Youthstream President.
