Doha Institute for Graduate Studies and Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) yesterday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to enhance bilateral cooperation in diverse areas.
The agreement was signed by Dr. Abdel Wahab Al Affendi, President and Provost of Doha Institute, and Ali bin Hassan Al Hammadi, Secretary-General of QRCS, in the presence of senior officials from both organisations.
This three-year MoU serves as a legal framework for cooperation in the areas of capacity-building; exchange of experience; research field visits; studies and research papers; and academic conferences/seminars to discuss humanitarian issues and challenges, as well as ways to improve its effectiveness.
Both parties will also seek to create a viable practical training environment for students of Doha Institute, depending on available resources.
Dr. Al Affendi welcomed the signing of the agreement and considered QRCS and Doha Institute as “gifts from Qatar to the world”, with their important achievements.
He emphasised the importance of establishing cooperation with QRCS on research, studies, exchange of experience, trainings, and specialized workshops related to humanitarianism and volunteerism.
“Supporting Qatar’s government organisations and NGOs is part of the mission of Doha Institute. We have programmes that share the goals and mandates of QRCS,” Dr. Al Affendi added
Al Hammadi said, “The signing of this MoU between QRCS and Doha Institute lays a foundation for cooperation between the two sides in their respective specialisations. We have already been working together for years now, and this agreement will help us to step up cooperation in the future.”
He said QRCS pays special attention to partnership with various government and public organisations towards shared goals, inspired by the pillars of Qatar National Vision 2030, the country’s development approaches, and the people’s aspirations for further development and prosperity.
