Qatari Society of Al Gannas announces 7 championships for 2020-21 season

Doha: Qatari Society of Al Gannas has announced its annual program for the 2020-21 season, which includes seven international and local championships including the International Marmi Festival.

Chairman of the Board of Directors of Qatari Society of Al Gannas, Ali bin Khatem Al Mehshadi, said that 2020-21 season will begin with Isfari Falconry Championship.

He said that the additions to this year includes the promising falconry competition, as well as the addition of ‘Shat Al Nukhba Lejeer’ in the Ras Laffan championship, sponsored by the Ras Laffan Social Communication Program.

Al Mehshadi said that this is a new addition to the junior championship to be held second year in a row, as well as the participation of junior falconers (Junior Falconer Competition) in the Al Gannas Society Championship, which is considered a mini-festival, and shows the participants’ readiness for the rest of the competitions.

He also indicated that the Qatar International Falcons and Hunting Festival, launched under the patronage of H E Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani will have associate rounds  - Al Hur Al Tafreekh for the categories of Al Qarnas and Al Farkh.

Al Mehshadi expressed that the Junior Al Gannas Maizab Camp will be on schedule in the first week of the school spring vacation.

He added that the activities of Qatari Society of Al Gannas for this season is not limited to championships and competitions, but rather that the scientific, educational aspect is strongly present in its program in accordance with the society’s mission and objectives, revealing that in the coming days, Al Gannas Library will be opened, as well as he revealed a number of major surprises for researchers and falconers alike.

Al Mehshadi called on falconers and participants to abide by the laws to preserve the environment and wildlife for sustainability purpose.

For his part, Vice President of the Qatari Society of Al Gannas, Muhammad bin Abdul Latif Al Misnad, emphasised that the announcement of the annual program aims to inform the participants and falconers the exact dates of championship so they can get ready accordingly.

Al Misnad explained that the Qatari Society of Al Gannas program is not limited to hold championships and festivals throughout the year, but  it also participates in the in international forums.

He added that despite some difficulties that the society faced due to the pandemic, such as the delay of the Katara International Falconry and Hunting Exhibition, as well as the late entry of some birds associated with the exhibition, it overcome the challenges. 

For his part, Head of Qatar Isfari Championship for Falcon, Khalid bin Saeed Al Sulaiti, said that registration for the championship for the year 2020 will begin tomorrow (October 26) and until on October 28 from 4pm to 8pm at the headquarters Qatari Society of Al Gannas in Katara. (Building No. 33).

Al Sulaiti said that Qatar Isfari Championship for Falcon will start on November 1, 2020 and continues until November 7 at Aba Al Qararis area in Al Khor. 

He pointed out that the championship includes a number of Al Daw competitions.
