BEIRUT: The Automobile and Touring Club of Lebanon (ATCL) is set to organise the Rally of Lebanon, the 4th round of Middle East Rally Championship, between August 28 and 31, it was announced yesterday.
More than 30 competitors will battle the international Lebanon Rally Circuit (796.21kms) which will be split into 13 special stages.
The official start of the race will be held on August 28th at 7pm at the sea front of Beirut.
The remaining rounds of the rally will be completed on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Rally ace Qatar’s Nasser Saleh Al Attiya, UAE’s Khalid AL Qasimi and Abdullah Al Qasmi, Saudi Arabia’s Yazeed Al Rajhi and Kuwait’s Salah bin Eidan will not feature in this race.
However, Qatar’s Khalifa Al Attiyah, Abdullah and Abdulaziz Al Kuwari and Nada Zaidan will feature in the rally. Kuwait’s Mishari Al Zouferi Lebanon Roger Feghali will also be seen in action.
In a statement released yesterday, Nasser bin Khalifa Al Attiyah (pictured above), a Vice President at FIA and FIM, said: “I completely trust in the abilities of Lebanon Motor Sport Club. The organisers have the abilities to present a good show. We trust the experience of the Lebanon Motor Sport Club ATCL in organising the rally, taking into consideration the health and safety procedure that this club sustains.”
Al Attiyah added: “I think that the event will succeed and the participants will continue their competitions to collect the points for the Middle East Championship.”
Fadi Oun, the head of the organising committee, confirmed that the rally will start at the agreed time.
