Delighted Qadi targets medal

Nanjing, China: Show jumper Hamad Al Qadi is thrilled to have attained an opportunity to be the flag-bearer of Qatar at today’s opening ceremony of the second Youth Olympic Games.
The rider, who arrived in Nanjing on Thursday, said the proud moment  has inspired him to push himself beyond his limits in search for a medal.
“First of all, I want to thank the Qatar Olympic Committee for having given me this historic chance to lead the national team in the Youth Olympics. This is the biggest moment of my life,” commented Qadi when asked about his feelings.
“This has come as a big surprise for me. Also this is a huge honour for me to carry the flag for the Qatari team. This would also prove a big lift for me during my show jumping contest and I’d try to put in my best efforts to win a medal for Qatar,” he added.
Meanwhile, the Qatar Olympic Committee Secretary-General Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani made a call to boost the national squad ahead of the opening ceremony of the second Youth Olympic Games.
The QOC Secretary-General Sheikh Saoud Bin Abdulrahman called Chef-de-Mission Eisa al Harami in Nanjing and had a detailed talk about the athletes who are making appearance.
Besides getting the update on the players, Sheikh Saoud also wished the Qatari team good luck and hoped that they would make use the opportunity to contest in the YOG and keep the national flag flying high with their improved performance.
