Qatari sailors, who won one gold, two silver and one bronze, at the 21st Al Bareh International Regatta, in Bahrain get a welcome on arrival at Hamad International Airport in Doha yesterday. Qatar Sailing and Rowing Federation (QSRF) President Khalifa M Al Sewaidi and other officials were present to receive the sailing squad. The 21st edition of the championship, organised by the Bahrain Maritime Sports Association (BMSA), featured sailors from Egypt, France, Tunisia, Morocco, India, Pakistan, Kuwait, Qatar, the UAE, Oman and Bahrain. The five-day annual challenge concluded on Monday after some exciting races in all the featured four categories - Laser Standard, Laser Radial, Laser 4.7 and Optimist. In the Laser Standard Class, Qatar’s Walid Al Shershani finished behind Bahrain’s Abdulla Janahi to clinch the second place. In Laser 4.7, Qatar’s Ali Al Muftah emerged on top. In Laser Radial, Qatar’s Faris Al Baker came second followed by compatriot Mohmmed Al Mohannadi.
