Six Filipino players qualify for Stage Two of W9BC in Qatar

Doha: Six Filipinos booked their places for the final round of the 2014 World 9-ball Championship (W9BC) of the World Pool-Billiard Association held here at Al Sadd Stadium.
Yesterday on the third and the final day of the qualifying rounds of the $200,000 tournament Elvis Calasang, Elmer Haya, Francisco Felicilda, Ramil Gallego, Raymund Faraon and Warren Kiamco gave the passionate fans from the Philippines, who came in large numbers, a lot to cheer about.
The six qualified for Stage Two, final round of the championship, which will begin from Saturday at the same venue.
Also qualifying for Stage two were three Japanese players Kuribayashi Tohru, Ohi Naoyuki and Akagariyama Yukio and an equal number from Chinese Tapei, Liu Cheng Chieh, Cheng Yu Hsuan, and Ko Pin Chung.
Others who have qualified included were Vilmos Foldes of Hungary and Denis Grabe of Estonia. Stage Two will feature 128 players. Hosts Qatar challenged will be led by Qatar players in Bashar Hussain, Mohd Al Bin Ali,  Meshel Turkey,  Waleed Majed,  Ali Obaidly and  Israel Rota. Qatar has the rights to host the World Pool-Billiard Association championship consecutively until 2017. THE PENINSULA
