​Qatar International Weightlifting Cup from December 21

Doha: The Qatar International Weightlifting Cup will be held for four days from December 21 to 25, officials of Qatar Weightlifting and Bodybuilding Federation (QWBF)  announced here yesterday.

The championship which will be held at Marriott Hotel will be in held in both men and women categories, informed Marone Amadou, Technical Secretary at QWBF.

 “The championship will take place in three weight categories in the men’s section and two in the women’s section,” said Amadou.

Prize money will be awarded to the first three place winners and around 150 weight lifters are expected to take part.

“Some of the top weightlifters will be in Doha for the event. This is an invitational event and we have sent invitees to some of the leading weightlifters in the different weight categories,” said the QWBF 

official.

Some of the leaders weightlifters from China, India are also likely to make the Qatar trip.

Among the women weightlifters, the QWBF official said UAE and Bahrain weightlifters will be trying to fly high the GCC flag.

Qatar will not field a team in the women’s section while the men’s challenge will be led by Abdula Aziz Swoor (94kg), Iza Al Ansari ( 105+), Isa Rumi (77) and Ahemd
