Al Attiyah congratulates Glas, sees stronger Asia-Europe bond

DOHA: The Qatar Motor and Motorcycle Federation’s (QMMF) President, Nasser bin Khalifa Al Attiyah has congratulated Wolfgang Glas after the German was elected President of European Motorcycling Union (FIM Europe) yesterday.
Al Attiyah attended the FIM Europe Congress that took place in the Polish city of Krakow.
The FIM meetings as well as the General Assembly was held at the Sheraton Krakow Hotel.
Al Attiyah, who is also a Vice President at FIM, the world governing body in bike racing, said he was looking forward to fruitful collaboration between Europe and Asian continents. 
“I had a series of meetings with top FIM officials including Mr Wolfgang Glas at this week’s European Congress. We look forward to holding more discussions in future,” Al Attiyah said over phone from the Polish city  of Krakow. “Asia is the second largest FIM body after Europe. More than 40 countries make up the European FIM. There are 25 member countries in FIM Asia. We know there are so many areas we can work together to take bike racing forward,” Al Attiyah added.
“We supported Mr Wolfgang Glas as he is our friend. We know he is a motor sport fan and has been involved with the sport for many years. He helped us with our motocross set-up at Losail International Circuit,” he noted.
In March last year, QMMF welcomed the motocross family for the first time at a specially designed dirt track built in a record time. “During one of my meetings in Krakow, I also met Polish motor sport federation president Andreaj Witkoski. Our discussions centered around taking bike racing forward,” Al Attiyah said.THE PENINSULA
