Brazil’s Paqueta returns as head coach for Al Gharafa

DOHA: The Brazilian coach Paquetá arrived in Doha last night to sign a new contract and manage Al Gharafa for the 2014/15 season.
Marcos Cesar Dias de Castro, known as ‘Marcos Paqueta was welcomed at the new Hamad International Airport by Salah Al Qadid Al Marri, Fahad Ali Hari and Hussien Ali Hari.
Paquetá already had a stint with the Cheetahs back in 2007/9 winning the Qatar Stars League title twice and also the Emir Cup.
The Brazilian was able to achieve excellent results with the team and therefore the club now hope that he can work his magic once more with the players to bring back glorly to the Thani bin Jassim stadium.
As a coach, he managed América (RJ) in 1987, then he went to Al-Shabbab of the United Arab Emirates (1988 to 1989).
The Brazilian went back back home managing Flamengo from 1990 to 1998 which was followed by a spell at Fluminense from 1999-2000 before heading back to Flamengo in 2001 to 2003. A move to Avaí in 2004 was then followed by signing for Al Hilal of Saudi Arabia in 2005.
His success with Al Hilal saw him handed the job of coaching the Saudi national team in the 2006 World Cup in Germany. In 2007 he signed with Al Gharafa, leading them to the Sheikh Jassim Cup and the year after to the Qatar Stars League title twice as well as the Emir Cup.
Meanwhile, the head of El Jaish’s club delegation has announced that the squad will head to Brazil for the preseason preparations.
They will leave today and return on July 24. The Army has chosen to hold its training camp in Sao Paolo as part of the first stage of preparation for next season.
The second stage preparation will be in Tunisia from the August 1 to 15  They finished the season in second place five points behind Lekhwiya. THE PENINSULA
