Doha: 32 of the biggest names in amateur football have qualified for Qalco’s Football Five’s World Championship final round making way for an exciting clash. More than 100 amateur football teams flexed their muscles in the 1st and 2nd qualifying rounds earlier this month, demonstrating their prowess on the field.
Locally sponsored by Qatar Lubricants Co., supported by Qatar Football Association (QFA) and managed by Legacy Sports & Events/Duplays Doha, The Football Five’s World Championship (F5WC) is part of a global initiative to select talented amateur football players through regional 5-a-side qualifying rounds to then compete in the Dubai 2014 finals.
As the Official Venue Provider for the championship, QFA has provided pitches 6 and 7 of Aspire Zone in which the F5WC Qatar Finals are set to take place on Friday.
QFA is also providing official referees for the tournament to officiate the matches. Games kick off at 4 pm, with the Quarter-finals scheduled to begin at 6:45 pm.
The 32 Finalists are Al Akhlas, Real Madrid Qatar, Afraama, FC Cartage, Al Rumila, Al Rayyan, Friends United, Al Mazallat Al Aneeqa, Sharq, Mediterranean FC, Wadi Al Sail, Five Stars, Syrian Sports Club (B), Al Masraf, Mackeen Holding, Desert Storm, Saleb Al Shraa, Haloul, Al Nasr, Dukhan, Al Odid, Al Asdqaa, Yasser Haikal, Bananas, Al Andlus, Al Waab, ABK, Hana, Al Rayan Security, Damas, Spaniards and Africa Stars.
