Doha: Ooredoo is the main telecommunications partner for this year’s Emir Cup football, it was announced here yesterday.
Qatar Football Association (QFA) and Ooredoo signed an agreement at Al Bidda Tower to extend their partnership by one more year.
Signing the partnership agreement reiterates QFA and Ooredoo’s commitment towards the most important and popular football tournament in the country.
As part of the company’s goals to promote sports in the community, the partnership was launched under the slogan, “The People’s Cup”, to encourage people to attend and watch the matches.
To promote the tournament, Ooredoo has planned to host activities in different locations across the city to promote the tournament and these include a Screaming booth where fans have the chance to go in and record their voice by saying the word “goal” and the fan that scores the longest time will get an ETR number worth QR25,000. The screaming booth will be located in Katara and in Landmark Mall and is set to open on May 1 and run until May 16.
The second promotional activity Ooredoo is organising is an Instagram Competition where Ooredoo will ask fans to post a picture and write down a slogan or sentence about their favourite football club that is participating in the tournament and hashtag the word #EmirCup2014.
Best pictures with best slogans/sentence will be chosen by Ooredoo, and then Instagrammers will be asked to vote for the best one.
Winners will get their slogan/sentence and favourite club’s photo printed on T-shirts and given to them.
