Lekhwiya still in lead; Tabata is Al Sadd hero

Al Sadd players celebrate Rodrigo Tabata’s (centre) hat-trick against Al Khor in their Qatar Stars League (QSL) match yesterday. Al Sadd won 4-2.

DOHA: Lekhwiya maintained their ascendancy in the Qatar Stars League (QSL) points race with a  1-1 draw against Al Wakra even though defending champions Al Sadd brought delight to their fans with a 4-2 crushing defeat of Al Khor. 
Also yesterday, second-placed Eljaish crushed Qatar SC 3-1 while Al Rayyan hammered Al Ahli 4-1.
Former champions Lekhwiya yesterday had to battle to share  points against Al Wakra. Youssef Msekni struck the equalsier for Lekhwiya in the 44th minute after Michel had given Al Wakra the lead in the 6th minute. 
In another match, striker Rodrigo Tabata was the hero with a hat-trick for third-placed Al Sadd against Al Khor. 
Tabata scored thrice (14, 23 and 48) while fellow forward Khalfan Ibrahim Al Khalfan found the net in the 71st minute to seal Al Sadd’s big win. 
For Al Khor, their two goals were scored by Julio Cesar (5) and William Souza (37).
