Al Sadd battle for draw on home soil

DOHA: Striker Rodrigo Tabata yesterday scored a goal for new employers Al Sadd but the defending champions were held to a 2-2 draw by Al Wakra in their Qatar Stars League (QSL) at Jassim Hamad Stadium. 
Tabata struck in the 57th minute but Al Sadd’s produced a late equalizer in the 90th minute through Nadir Belhadj to share the points on home soil. 
For Al Wakra, the two goals were scored by Argentine striker Sebastian Saez (11 and 80).
Third-palced Al Sadd now have 31 points from 19 matches. 
Lekhwiya are leading the points race with a tally of 43 in 20 matches. El Jaish, who are in second spot, have a tally of 36 points from 20 matches. 
In another match yesterday, hosts Al Arabi pinched a 1-0 win over Qatar SC after Orestes Junior Alves scored in the 77th month. Al Arabi are in fifth spot with  28 points from 19 matches.  Al Ahli, who also have 28 points, are in fourth spot with a match in hand.
In today’s three matches, Al Ahli play Al Kharaitiyat at Al Arabi Stadium, Al Sailiyah take on Al Khor at Al Rayyan Stadium and at the same venue, home side welcome Umm Salal.
