DOHA: Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler will visit Qatar this month to lead Evolution Soccer training sessions, play a charity football match and run the Leaders’ Race hosted by Standard Chartered Bank at the Aspire Zone.
Tommy Westmoreland, Head Soccer Coach and Manager of Evolution Sports said: “We are so excited to have Robbie Fowler make the time to attend some of our football training sessions and play alongside our Evo U19s squad in a friendly match against the Ethiopian Community here in Qatar. The days leading up to the 10k event will see Robbie along with LFC Foundation coaches conduct coaching clinics at local schools and at the popular local amateur football league the QIAFL.”
Westmoreland added: “Evolution Sports are currently making some very strong links in the sporting world such as our forthcoming ‘Paris Saint Germain (PSG) and Evo Soccer’ winter football camp and a special appearance by former Manchester United super-defender Dennis Irwin who will also lead training sessions with our young players as part of the Commercial Bank partnership with the Red Devils.”
There are two official race categories; a 10km and a 3km fun run. The 10k race is a measured (accurate) 10K race for all abilities around the grounds of Aspire on a fast and flat course. The event has already drawn keen interest from both professional and leisure runners from Qatar and across the region since registrations opened. Registration for the Standard Chartered race is available online only at www.premiermarathons.com.
Fowler is one of the greatest footballers to have played for Liverpool and is one of the most natural goal scorers ever to wear the famous red shirt. The 1995-96 season saw him score 30-plus goals and retain his Young Player of the Year award.
