DOHA: Qatar squad that rested for a day after Friday’s friendly against Egypt yesterday switched to day-time training and underwent strenuous physical fitness tests.
Coached by Paulo Autuori, Qatar players hit the Aspire Academy training pitches under the watchful eyes of the backroom staff and team manager Abdulrehman Al Mahmood.
Qatar are preparing for this week’s Gulf Cup to be held in Bahrain from January 5 to 18.
The Qatari players underwent running drills in sand pits before switching to speed sprints using harness straps.
The harness drills are aimed at building up speed and lower body strength, a Qatar Football Association (QFA) official said.
The drill is widely used by performance by track and field athletes and football players.
