DOHA: Two cars premiering at the Qatar Motor Show 2013 have found new owners. W Motors, designer of the Arab world’s first hyper car, and Brabus, a high-performance aftermarket tuning company, confirmed that their latest models had been sold during the event, which expects to double the number of visitors this year.
Dubai-based W Motors’ Lykan Hypersport 2013, the first hypercar designed in the Middle East, attracted its first buyer on the first public day of the show.
With a flat 6, twin-turbo, 750 horsepower engine delivering 1000 NM of torque, the vehicle goes from 0 to 100km per hour in 2.8 seconds to reach the breakneck maximum speed of 390km per hour.
Diamond-encrusted LED front lights and other details make this vehicle, one of the most luxurious cars ever designed. Priced at nearly QR13m, its new owner also walked away with a Special Edition Cyrus Klepcy Watch, worth almost QR730,000.
Brabus, a high-performance aftermarket tuning company, also chose the 2013 Qatar Motor Show to unveil its latest model, the Brabus Widestar 800, based on the 2013 Mercedes-Benz G65 AMG. Featuring a V 12 6.0-litre turbocharged engine, it can hit 100km per hour in just over four seconds. This super-powered Mercedes was purchased for an undisclosed sum on the second day of the show.
Both high-profile purchases are testament to the fact that the Qatar Motor Show has become the platform of choice for manufacturers worldwide of high-end and exclusive cars, as they turn to the expo to debut and showcase their latest state-of-the-art models, with the increased likelihood that they will find a buyer. The 2013 Qatar Motor Show, hosted by the Qatar Tourism Authority with q.media Events and GL Events, will run until today.
