DOHA: The Supreme Education Council (SEC) has taken punitive action against a teacher of English language and a subject coordinator for including objectionable references in a question paper.
The teacher included some questions that indirectly promoted drinking and free interaction between men and women, a local Arabic daily reported yesterday. The coordinator failed to check the question paper properly and detect the objectionable matter.
It was not mentioned what type of action was taken against the duo.
Replying to comments posted by people on social networking sites, the SEC said its committee for reviewing the curriculum and question papers was doing its job properly. The committee is screening the curricula and text books of other countries to ensure that they do not go against Islamic values and Qatari culture.
