DOHA: Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development hosted a delegation from the US government participating in a cultural exchange programme. The delegation consisted of 23 representatives from Congress, Department of State, and Department of Homeland Security.
They were given a presentation outlining the vision and mission of Qatar Foundation. Educational initiatives, community development plans and scientific research projects taking place on campus were explained. A 3D scale model of the site’s current buildings and construction projects was also on display.
Members of the delegation were impressed by the tremendous growth that has taken place since Qatar Foundation’s inauguration, in addition to the wide breadth of academic and research opportunities that have been made available on campus.
The group is in Doha on a 10-day visit to gain first-hand experience and perspective of the region’s heritage and values. Many of the delegates are visiting the Middle East for the first time.
Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Senior Legislative Assistant for Senator Charles E Schumer said: “Visiting Qatar Foundation makes it clear how dedicated Qatar is to building a knowledge economy, and it should be commended for this tremendous achievement. It’s very inspiring to see so many resources amongst the universities and institutions here dedicated to building the nation’s future and to see such outstanding leadership,” he said.
