DOHA: Katara, the Cultural Village has teamed up with Shakespeare 4 Kidz (S4K) to bring the residents of Doha Shakespeare’s classic love story, Romeo and Juliet.
Scheduled to debut on February 15, tickets for the exciting musical are now available at Virgin Mega stores. The shows will be open to schools only on February 15 at 8.45am and 11.30am and February 16 at 10am. The public on the other hand will be invited to attend on February 16 at 6pm at the Drama Theatre, Building 16 at Katara.
S4K present a unique, easy to understand musical adaptation of classical Shakespeare plays, forming the basis of a complete understanding of his work. The UK based company, formed 15 years ago consists of 20 professional actors who will perform the unparalleled musical adaptation of Romeo and Juliet.
Dr. Emad Sultan, Cultural Affairs Director said, “This initiative is an excellent opportunity to engage youth in edutainment and we are proud to host this event in our state of the art facilities. This event is another testament of our vision to educate and entertain whilst building cultural bridges.”
S4K have toured around the globe, introducing millions of young people to the magical world of Shakespeare and recently performed in Bahrain and Dubai. Musical adaptations the group perform include A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Twelfth Night, The Tempest and Hamlet. Shakespeare 4 Kidz brings some of Shakespeare’s best work to life, removing the barrier of understanding the Elizabethan language, creating a unique edutainment experience.
