Pakistan to automate scrutiny of candidates

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan officials have agreed on an online central automated system (OCAS) for fast scrutiny of nomination papers of election candidates.

The proposed system is based on software, to be prepared within a week after formal approval by the Election Commission, which will be installed at the ECP Secretariat. The commission will now meet again on March 6, wherein it is most likely to accord approval to this mechanism.

To this effect, a meeting was held at the Election Commission Secretariat here under the ECP Director General Elections, Sher Afgan, attended by representatives of the four entities. 

These will report to the electoral body on the representatives of the four entities. These will report to the electoral body on the scrutiny of nomination papers on a day-to-day basis.
