National Day an occasion to know about heritage

Chairperson of Qatar Museums, H E Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani said that the national day is an opportunity to reflect on the founding of the State of Qatar, which has grown since then to become a vibrant hub for arts and culture in the Middle-East.

She told QNA in statements made to mark Qatar National Day that it was an occasion to renew commitment to the country and the wise leadership, and to developing the arts and heritage sector. She congratulated Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, who thanks to his leadership the state, has made a qualitative leap in all fields. 

She noted that Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed bin Thani established the State of Qatar on December 18, 1878, to become an independent and united country under his leadership. She added that celebrating the national day comes to reiterate the commitment to the country’s identity and history. The efforts made by Qatar Museums to enrich the cultural scene in Qatar was a result of the pride to belong to that history and those values. 

H E Sheikha Al Mayassa highlighted the commitment of Qatar Museums to helping young talents grow and develop further to develop the art scene in Qatar. She added that Qatar Museums launched a number of initiatives in 2020, the most prominent of which were Picasso’s Studios exhibition which ran from July 1 to November 1, Faces and Places which took place from August to December, as well as many other exhibitions.
