Every year, the world comes together to celebrate World Teachers’ Day, recognising the pivotal role teachers play in shaping generations and building the future of societies.
On this day, teachers are not honoured merely as individuals, but for the noble mission they carry and for a role that extends beyond the classroom to instil values and shape minds.
For us at Qatar Foundation Pre-University Education schools, this day is an opportunity to reflect on the magnitude of the responsibility we hold, and to take pride in our contribution to strengthening national identity and empowering our students to engage with the world with confidence.
At Qatar Foundation, the teacher’s identity is firmly rooted in national and cultural values. Teachers are not simply transmitters of knowledge, but bearers of the mission to preserve identity and reinforce values, inspiring their students to become responsible individuals who contribute to their communities.
Through bilingual educational programs, teachers continue to strengthen the role of the Arabic language and national identity, while also equipping students with communication skills and the confidence to embrace cultures from around the world.
Qatar Foundation does not view education in isolation from development. Instead, it provides teachers with a rich professional environment that fosters creativity and supports the renewal of their pedagogical tools.
At the heart of these efforts is a focus on the Qatari teacher, through specialized programs designed to empower them and strengthen their role as leaders and key influencers in shaping future generations.
By adopting modern approaches such as project-based learning, digital technologies, and collaborative learning, we become better equipped to refine our students’ skills and enhance their intellectual capacities in line with the demands of the future.
Recognising the importance of research and innovation, Pre-University Education offers teachers opportunities to engage in educational research and contribute to shaping new initiatives.
I have personally benefited from programmes delivered by the Education Development Institute, part of Pre-University Education, which included advanced training in educational leadership and modern teaching strategies.
In addition, the annual gatherings provide an ideal platform for exchanging ideas and building networks among educators.
These experiences have deepened my awareness as a teacher and strengthened my commitment to contributing to education development at the national level.
Today, the teacher is no longer merely a transmitter of curricula, but a leader of change and a partner in advancing sustainable development in its social, economic, and environmental dimensions.
The more teachers succeed in combining pride in their national identity with openness to global sciences and knowledge, the more capable they become of preparing a generation that balances authenticity with creativity, and belonging with ambition.
On World Teachers’ Day, I reaffirm my belief that our mission is far greater than being confined to traditional teaching; it is a mission of building the nation’s future and preparing well-rounded individuals who take pride in their roots and confidently contribute to shaping the world of tomorrow.
Teachers are the spark from which every achievement begins, the foundation upon which progress is built, and the driving force through which Qatar’s aspirations for a knowledgeable, innovative, and responsible society are realised.
