DOHA: Qatar Football Association (QFA) and Reach out to Asia (Rota), Qatar’s leading non-profit and community development organisation, have announced that QR300,000 in proceeds from the recent Sheikh Jassim Cup will be donated to Gaza victims.
Essa Al Mannai, Executive Director, Rota, said, “Supporting access to education and community development in Gaza has been a priority for us and we are again proud to be partnering with QFA on this humanitarian initiative.
“I would like to thank all fans and communities for their support and solidarity, and making a positive impact for our neighbours in Gaza.
“Rota started its first mission in Gaza during the Israeli war that started in December of 2008. Since then, as a long- term response to the destruction caused by the 23-day war, Rota has funded phases I and II of a project to rebuild, rehabilitate and refurbish 22 schools in the Gaza Strip. Rota remains committed to Gaza and supporting its community in this time of great need.”
Khalid Mubarak Al Kuwari, Acting Executive Director, Operations, QFA, said: “We’d like to congratulate Al Sadd on winning the Cup this year and to thank Rota for supporting our initiative to donate the ticket proceeds of the match to the victims of Gaza and the renovation of schools. For QFA, education is of utmost importance and our partnership with Rota ensures that we are involved in providing education that will change the lives of children in underprivileged communities.”
