DOHA: After enthralling over 300,000 people around the world, acclaimed street dance sensation Blaze impressed Qatar’s crowd with a mishmash of hip hop, break dancing and krumping during their Doha debut yesterday at the Doha Exhibition Centre.

A part of the Qatar Summer Festival, Blaze is staging three performances every day until tomorrow. The 20-minute performances are free and are scheduled at 5pm, 7pm and 9pm daily.

Fresh from its performance in Bahrain, the group is in Qatar for the first time for the festival and is likely to have a comeback performance in the near future.

“This is our first time in Qatar. After Qatar we’ll take a short break and then we’ve got projections to go to Asia and America and hopefully back to Qatar with a full show,” Kendra J Horsburgh, dance captain and choreographer, told the local media after their first performance yesterday.

The mixed audience clapped and cheered to the body-popping highly electric dance moves of the group composed of some of the best dancers from around the world.

The group comprises 12 dancers, three break dancers and an emcee all working together to give the crowd an amazing show.

“It’s a very international show and has an international cast as well, which is beautiful. We have people from America, Holland, Brazil, Germany and Luxembourg who have very different background and training. The show is partly choreographed and party freestyle as well, so you see the individual flavour of the members,” said Horsburgh.

For the past four years, Blaze has been travelling around the world including Australia, Russia, Germany, France, the UK, Italy, Thailand, and the Netherlands among others with a spectacular show which combines performance, talent and visual feast through projections.

“If you come to see Blaze you expect a big fun night out with some incredible talent and some very impressive visuals. The show has some of the best dancers in the world and projection mapping, incredible set, and some of the greatest hits,” she added.

During their non-stop performance, the group also encouraged audience participation resulting to a show oozing with high energy and positive vibe.

“Blaze is a highly energetic show that we expect will draw in many observers as it is suitable for people of all ages and is extremely young-spirited and fun,” said Mashal Shahbik, Eid In Qatar & Qatar Summer Festival Project Manager.
