DOHA: In a humanitarian and caring initiative, employees of Safari Group of Companies donated their one day’s salary to Qatar Red Crescent (QRC)as part of contribution to Gaza Relief Fund.
Employees also felt that during the long decades of the Palestinian conflict, the international community has not fully addressed the legitimate Palestinian aspirations. Now Gaza is chronically short of food, water, electricity and adding salt to it wounds is the closure of it borders.
Employees of the group have taken the plight of Palestinians to heart and felt that they require immediate humanitarian aid for development and rebuilding of their shattered lives.
Hamad Dafer A A Al Ahbabi, Chairman, and Zainul Abideen, Director and General Manager of the group, handed over a cheque for QR50,000 to Ahmed Ali Al Khulaifi, representative, QRC.
“We take pride in joining hands with the people of Qatar and QRC who has done splendid service during the years for the people in distress. People of Qatar have shown solidarity with the people of Gaza and cooperation in sending donations to alleviate their suffering,” said Abideen.
“We were influenced by this concern for the people of Gaza and employees came forward by donating one day’s salary to the Gaza Relief Fund. The fact that makes us more proud is the spontaneous gesture of different nationalities in our company.”
QRC has an office in Gaza which is coordinating with the Palestinian Ministry of Health to estimate the needs of the people in terms of clean water, electricity, medicine and shelter.
“We will continue our efforts to expand partnership with QRC and support its projects” said Abideen. “Safari has always been at the forefront in supporting social causes and support the needy as part of its corporate social responsibility and hopes that other companies will follow suit.”
