Doha: As part of its ongoing commitment to the Holy Month of Ramadan, Starwood Hotels & Resorts is celebrating its fifth annual ‘Iftar for Cabs’ initiative at over 40 participating Starwood hotels in the Middle East.

During Iftar on July 16, all cab drivers who pass through the main entrance of any of the participating Starwood hotels will receive Iftar packs to break fast.

The initiative, ideated by Starwood Hotels & Resorts, has been running since 2010 and has become an annual tradition for many cab drivers in the region.

Last year, Starwood delivered over 3,000 Iftar packs across the region.

“‘Iftar for Cabs’ represents the spirit of Ramadan and we are proud of our hotels’ teams who come together for the initiative every year and go that extra step to give back to the community,” said Guido de Wilde, Senior Vice-President & Regional Director, Starwood Hotels & Resorts, Middle East.

“The initiative is our way of appreciating cab drivers who support our hotels throughout the year by providing transportation to our guests.”

Catering teams at each hotel will prepare Iftar packs, which will include a diverse selection of food and beverage.

Associates from various departments within hotels, including catering, administration and guest services, will take part.

Starwood’s initiative has been appreciated by its hotel owners, the community and local transport authorities.

The group operates eight of its nine renowned international brands in the Middle East — St. Regis, The Luxury Collection, W, Westin, Le Méridien, Sheraton, Four Points by Sheraton, and Aloft. All will be represented in the initiative this year.
