Kahramaa receives accolades for Sustainability Report

Doha: Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation (Kahramaa) yesterday said that it has achieved two significant awards recently for its first ever produced Sustainability Report 2013 titled “Changing mindsets, Inspiring the future”.
The prestigious honours for Kahramaa were received by Eng Essa bin Hilal Al Kuwari, Kahramaa’s President, from Dr Ibrahim Al Ibrahim, Economic Adviser to the Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, in the presence of H E Dr Mohammed bin Saleh Al Sada, the Minister of Energy and Industry, during a ceremony organised for launching of 2013 Reports on Sustainability in Qatar Energy and Industry Sector.
The awards which have been conferred upon are Innovation Award for ongoing National Programme for Conservation & Energy Efficiency (Tarsheed) and best “Strong & Good Quality” sustainability report for first time participation at Ministry of Energy & Industry programme for sustainability development. Total 36 organisations participated in sustainability reporting for year 2013.
The maiden report was produced by the Conservation & Energy Efficiency department (Tarsheed) of Kahramaa with the contributions of all other departments. 
During the technical session which was organised at the end of the ceremony, Kahramaa’s report was presented as a model of clarity, link between the result and services provided and honest reporting with stakeholders for exhibiting ways and means to improve upon further.
The annual report on sustainability is a key component of the sector sustainability program, which aims to enhance the management of economic, environmental and social impacts within the energy and industry sector, optimising its contribution to the development of Qatar.
It constitutes a commitment by the sector towards the implementation of economic, human, social, and environmental sustainable development as envisaged in the Qatar National Vision 2030, and the Qatar National Development Strategy 2011-2016.
