DOHA: Fertility rate among women in Qatar has fallen significantly over the past few years, shows data of the Ministry of Development Planning and Statistics. The Qatar-Social Statistics 2003-2012 shows a gradual decline in fertility rate (for Qatari women) from 4.1 in 2003 to 3.4 in 2011, while for non-Qatari women it fell from 2.6 to 1.9 during the period.  Total fertility rate per woman is the average number of children that would be born to a woman over her lifetime. The number of births increased during this period, but the crude birth rate - the number of live births per 1000 population in a given year-has reduced regularly, from 18.3 in 2003 to 11.3 in 2009. However, there was a slight increase starting from 2010, to 11.4, and reaching 11.9 in 2011. The Peninsula
