Doha: Ooredoo yesterday announced the winners of the Ooredoo Goal Booth competition, celebrating the end of the 2014 Emir Cup and building excitement towards the upcoming international football events.
The competition offered two people the chance to win an exclusive easy-to-remember number, worth over QR25,000 for shouting the longest ‘Goal’ via Ooredoo Goal booths.
The longest recorded goal was an impressive one minute, 22 seconds, by Younis Alzahri, at the Souq Waqif booth, followed by Ali Ahmed Mahmoud in second place with one minute, 21 seconds.
Third place was Muhammed Ismail and forth Odeman Saeed Al Qahtani in the Landmark booth with one minute, seven seconds.
The booths were stationed at Landmark Mall and Souq Waqif until May 15, offering customers the chance to let out their excitement for the Emir Cup tournament and take part for free.
Each participant was asked to scream ‘Goal’ for as long as they could. Results were recorded via Ooredoo’s high-tech sound booths, and stored for review at the end of the competition.
The contest, which was open to the public for two weeks, had an enormous response, with people queuing for up to 20 minutes to take part.
Overall, the competition received 631 participants, with several queuing to try again.
Ooredoo is in its second phase of sporting activities in the run-up to the international sporting season.
