PM honours students with special needs

DOHA: The Prime Minister and Interior Minister H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani yesterday honoured students with special needs who showed excellence in education. 

The annual event was organised by Qatar Society for Rehabilitation of Special Needs. 

Parents of the students were also honoured.

The Minister of Economy and Trade H E Sheikh Ahmed bin Jassim bin Mohamed Al Thani and Sheikh Thani bin Abdullah Al Thani from Foundation for Humanitarian Services were also present at the World Excellence Day celebrations at Marriott Doha. 

The event highlighted education for people with special needs.

“The event was held following directives of Sheikh Thani bin Abdullah Al Thani, Chairman of Qatar Society for Rehabilitation of Special Needs. 

“The organisation, in collaboration with civil organisations, is keen to improve the educational environment for people with special needs,” said Rabia bin Mohammad Al Kaabi, Deputy Chairman of the society.

It provides educational support students need like audiovisual aids and other devices. 

“We provide equipment based on latest technology for people with special needs like computers, educational games, iPads, which are very helpful in solving their problems related to studies, language and pronunciation. 

“There are special advanced equipment for blind students,” said Al Kaabi.The Peninsula
