CPD confiscates 7,200 beauty products

Doha: The Consumer Prote-ction Department, in a raid conducted yesterday, has confiscated 7,200 beauty products with tampered expiry date from a store. The department conducted the raid after getting a tip-off from a government agency. Employees working in the store were caught changing the packaging of beauty products. 

They were putting expired beauty products in new packages by using sophisticated equipment. Employees said that they were given instructions from senior members to change the packages. The department has seized equipment for further investigation. 

The Director of the Consumer Protection Department, Sheikh Jassim bin Jabor bin Hassan Al Thani, said that the department will intensify the campaign to confiscate counterfeit products and stop the incident of tampering the expiry of products. 

He urged consumer to be aware and should check the packing and expiry date before buying any products from market. He appealed to customers to inform the Consumer Protection Department if they find any counterfeit product.
